About Alnoor University

Alnoor University was a seed planted with sweet, sincere wishes in the land of Nineveh. It grew to become a private Iraqi university striving for integration with public universities. It has endured difficult circumstances and faced tough challenges, all of which it overcame. In the dawn of April 2024, it became the first private university in Nineveh. Today, it proudly flourishes with the growth it has achieved through ten colleges in the medical, health, technical, engineering, administrative, and humanities fields, in addition to twenty-six academic departments.Some of these departments are unique at the local level, while others are unique at the national and regional levels. The university has provided its students with suitable classrooms and state-of-the-art laboratories, ensuring they are equipped with the latest devices and equipment required for practical study. Additionally, it has educational clinics for dentistry, where students train using 115 dental chairs, while more than 250 patients receive free treatment daily.In terms of its openness to the surrounding environment, the university works on spreading and promoting heritage and activating research and studies related to it through the Department of Archaeological Tourism and the Alnoor Center for Heritage Preservation. It also holds its annual tradition of celebrating Mosul Heritage Day. The university is committed to environmental protection by banning smoking, using solar energy, operating a medical waste incinerator, implementing recycling systems, and engaging in tree planting. It is also keen on embracing the digital world and using modern technologies through electronic portals and adopting the principle of electronic payment, which is applied in its fleet of buses that transport students from their residential areas to the university and back, covering routes that resemble arteries extending through the neighborhoods and districts of Mosul.The university encourages its academic staff to publish their work in journals indexed in Scopus. It publishes seven peer-reviewed scientific journals: Alnoor for Humanities Studies, Alnoor for Medical Sciences, Alnoor for Legal Studies, Alnoor for Digital Media Studies, Alnoor for Information Technology and Cybersecurity, Alnoor for Oil and Gas Studies, and Alnoor for Energy Engineering and Sustainability. In terms of publication, its faculty members have published 1,021 research papers indexed in Scopus. Regarding international collaboration, the university has achieved a 65% rate of cooperation between its researchers and foreign researchers. Nearly 300 papers have been published in Q1 journals, and 77 papers have been published in journals ranked in the top 10% globally. The number of research papers published in Web of Science indexes has reached approximately 588. The university has entered twelve global rankings, and in the latest ranking of Iraqi universities, eight of its departments appeared among the top ten. Additionally, the university has signed numerous agreements with global, regional, and local universities. It has also initiated the opening of graduate studies through a partnership with the University of UTP in Malaysia, accepting the first batch of up to ten students in the field of Engineering Management. The university employs Arab and foreign faculty members and also accepts Arab and international students. It offers an annual full scholarship to Arab and foreign students in each of its departments, in alignment with the Ministry’s directive (Study in Iraq).The university organizes global scientific conferences both inside Iraq and abroad. These pioneering conferences address topics related to future vision and have totaled nearly thirty-five conferences, including the Conference on Aviation and Sustainable Development, the International Conference on Arabic Narrative, the International Conference on the English Language, the International Conference on Media Integration, and the International Conference on Medical Sciences. Two of these conferences are listed in the Elsevier index. In addition, the university will hold 150 scientific workshops, seminars, and discussion sessions during the 2024-2025 academic year alone. It is well-known that Nineveh has two springs, and today, Alnoor University has become its third spring.
